Inside you will find all the strategies and the best advice for unblocking the site in question both on PC and on smartphones and tablets. Happy reading and good luck with everything!
How to unblock a site on Google Chrome
While browsing the web with Chrome, you have noticed that a specific website has some features blocked by this browser and you are not allowed to fully exploit the services it offers. This type of problem arises from the fact that, probably, you have inadvertently disabled the ability to access specific features, which prevent for example correct geolocation or the use of a Webcam or microphone. This type of block can be easily removed, so let’s see how to proceed.
To get started, launch Chrome and click on the ⋮ icon in the top right. In the box that appears, select the Settings item and, in the new section, press the Privacy and Security tab on the sidebar.
Now, locate the Site Settings entry, click on it, and then click on the View permissions and data stored on sites entry. Use the search bar at the top right to locate the website you want to unblock and click on it in the list at the bottom, to see a screen with the permissions you have set.
You can quickly reset the permissions granted to the website by pressing the Reset Permissions button, located in the top right. Alternatively, locate the permission that the website does not have, click the drop-down menu next to it, and press the Allow button.
All you have to do is go back to the website tab, reload the page using the rotating arrow icon in the top left, and try using it again.
The same procedure can also be performed on Chrome from Android smartphones and tablets: start Chrome, press the ⋮ icon, and select Settings > Site settings.
How to Unblock a Popup on Google Chrome
Some websites require pop-ups, which are additional windows that open, to perform certain functions. For example, consider an e-commerce site that opens a pop-up at checkout to redirect you to the payment gateway.
If you encounter some problems on specific websites that do not allow you to open pop-up windows, you can allow this behavior by following the same instructions I gave you in the previous chapter.
Specifically, in the Privacy & Security section of Chrome settings, locate the Content category and click on the Pop-ups & redirects item. You can choose whether to allow all new websites to open pop-ups ( Sites can send pop-ups and use redirects ) or deny it via the corresponding item.
In the Custom Behaviors section further down, under Can’t Send Pop-ups or Use redirects, tap the ⋮ icon next to the website that currently has this feature blocked and tap Remove.
How to Unblock an Unsafe Site on Chrome
Are you using a PC or Mac and Chrome is still blocking the site you are trying to access because it says it is not safe? Then proceed as follows.
Know that you can almost certainly bypass the obstacle directly from the Chrome warning page.
To begin, launch the aforementioned browser, visit the “incriminated” address, and wait for the screen to appear indicating that the site is not safe. At this point, press the Continue on the site button so that the page is loaded anyway as if nothing had happened.
Please also note that often the wording “Not secure site” or “The connection to this site is not secure” does not necessarily indicate the presence of viruses and malware on the aforementioned site and, often, it is a problem related to the expired or inactive HTTPS protocol (with consequent use of the HTTP security protocol, without Secure Sockets Layer which allows encrypted browsing and which Google Chrome has reported as unsafe since 2018).
If, however, you just want to browse the site without leaving personal information such as credit card details, name, surname, and the like, there should not be any major security problems. To put it simply, a site classified by Google Chrome as unsafe is more likely to be subject to hacker attacks, but it does not necessarily mean that it is dangerous.
If you no longer want to see the security warning on the aforementioned site because you are sure that it is safe, proceed as follows: press the ⋮ icon located at the top right and from the contextual menu that opens, click on the Settings item. Now, on the new page that you see, in the menu located on the left of it, press on the Privacy and Security item, then click on the Site Settings item.
At this point, in the new page that you see open, select the items Other content settings > Insecure content, and, in the new page that you see, press the Add button next to the item Can show insecure content to give authorization to the entire website.
After that, in the opened panel, add the address of the website to which you want to show all the contents, and finally press the Add button again. In this way, if the problem is not of another nature as we will see later, you will still be able to view it without problems.
On smartphones and tablets, after launching the Chrome app, first press the ⋮ icon and then the Settings item; select the Privacy and Security> Safe browsing items and activate the No Protection item (but I advise against it) or Standard Protection item.
How to Unblock a Blocked Site on Chrome
If the website block isn’t caused by permission not granted on Chrome, it means that other types of blocks are at work. Below are some solutions that can help you solve your problem.
Family Link
Family Link is Google’s dedicated parental control app, extending its functionality beyond Android devices, Chromebooks with Chrome OS 71 or later, and the Google Chrome browser.
A site blocked with Family Link is unreachable, and a notice in the Chrome tab tells you that you need to request permission from a family group supervisor.
So what can you do? Basically nothing, except pressing the Ask button in a message, to send an automatic request to unblock the website.
In this case, the supervisor will receive an email with the link to access the family group. You can also go to the Family Link management page, log in with the supervisor account, and click on the supervised member. Then press the Go to Family Link button, press the bell icon in the top right, and click the Approve button next to the website access request.
Still, on this screen, tap on the Controls tab on the left sidebar, tap on Happy Limitations > Google Chrome, and eliminate the sites in the Obstructed Destinations segment. You can likewise decide to empower admittance to all sites using the Permit admittance to all destinations choice, accordingly actually eliminating any parental limitations.
Using the Family Link app for Android and iOS/iPad, you can manage the matter in the same way. After launching the app and logging in with the supervisor account, you will find a screen identical to the Web one, which I told you about in the previous paragraphs.
Extensions
Have you tried the solution indicated in the previous paragraph but still can’t see the site you want to visit? Then, on your computer, there may be an extension active to block sites on Chrome.
What you can do, then, is check for the presence of this extension and go to remove it. To proceed, press on the puzzle icon located between the URL bar and the profile picture of the Google account in Chrome: at this point, you will see a box appear with the names of the installed extensions.
To disable one, press the Manage extensions button and, in the new page that opens, find the one related to blocking sites and click the Remove button twice in a row. Alternatively, access the extension settings (via its icon), check the list of blocked sites in it and remove the one you want to visit, then type the unlock code, if necessary. Unfortunately, I cannot be more specific with my instructions as each extension works differently.
Despite every one of your endeavors, the site you need to visit is as yet obstructed, maybe because of geological issues. Then you can download and involve a VPN expansion for Google Chrome that can assist you with getting around the issue Let me explain: a VPN is a tool that routes the connection in an encrypted tunnel, camouflaging communications and changing the country of the IP address used; this allows you to protect your privacy (even on public Wi-Fi networks), overcome censorship and regional blocks, and appear to be connected from countries other than the one you are actually in.
Among the best VPNs available at the moment, I recommend reliable ones, I recommend NordVPN and Surfshark, which have many servers, are very cheap, and work without problems even in Chrome, not only from PC, but also from smartphones, tablets, and other devices.
Other solutions
There could be many reasons why you still can’t access a particular website: for example, you have parental control in place or you are using a DNS service that filters traffic, or it could be a change in the Windows hosts file.
In short, there can be many reasons why a website is inaccessible and, for this reason, I recommend that you consult some guides that I have created for the topic, in which you will find various solutions to block a website and, therefore, also to unblock it through the reverse procedure.
The guides I recommend are: how to block a website, how to delete unwanted sites, and how to block unwanted sites. In addition, I recommend you consult my tutorial on how to block websites on your cell phone for more information on how to act on smartphones and tablets.
